This is dedicated to Japie for his post of Party Animal! One needs to control those party gatecrashers, & generally, the bouncer is engaged for this type of job! So, here he is, kicking-up quite a storm on his own some. Now, in real life, these two animals are often seen in the company of each other. The Blue Wildebeest - Connochaetes taurinus and the zebra are both on the menu of King Leo, maybe they can sympathise and feel empathy the one for the other. This ugly and difficult to expose ungulate is sometimes referred to as the clown of the savannah. They will start running for no apparent reason, chasing their tails or members of their herd in circles, sway their heads from side to side and just be happy! - Hakuna Matata for all practical purposes.
These animals have no real need of introduction, as their migration across the Serengeti is world renowned and well documented. I will later post some more behavioural shots of these clowns.

Very nice shot! We can feel the action. Nice!

Callie, fantastic action shot. The dust really shows the event occuring here. The head down and tail up is gives the sign that he means business! TFS.

Good action shot Callie and excellent note as always.
Good movement with the foot lifted and the dust flying.
Well spotted!

Looks like a furious fighting bull running away from the arena :-) I like the tail and mane placement, the dust and the stretched legs. All this shows a beautiful action shot. Besides that, the light is very good, and a special mention goes to the framing where the tree plays an important role. A fantastic shot, Callie, very professional to me.

Taurinus in Spanish means "bull related" and it fits very much with your picture. Nice action shot, I again envy your light in SA. Thanks Callie.

its good to see the subject doing some thing other than stand still, this is well captured callie the control of DOF is very good and the speed of the shot has taken out a lot of the pan movememt blur but left enough to give some feel for the motion.

Really a great capture Callie. He looks great scaping the dust all over the place telling everybody who is the master attitude. I especially like the sephia colours which works great here.

Subject Impact: The photo already caught my attention in the thumbnail. Interesting write up with a funny twist regarding Japie's shot. Sharpness: The motion captured is more important that the tack sharpness, IMO. Exposure: My only nit is the shadow on the face, but then fill-flash on the run at 600mm is not for us mere mortals. :) Contrast: The effect of the contrasting (darker) tree and mane looks very nice. Color: Kinda sepia, but I like it. Background: The horizontal layers goes well with the motion and direction of the subject. Captions: The added frame and letters are not distracting and the colours go well with the tonal range of the shot.
Cropping/Framing: Perfect Overall: Masterpiece!

This is a great action shot Callie. I like the sun rays in the dust: it gives movement to the ensemble. Greenish Sepia tone is appropriate for this kind of picture. And the frame is perfect.

The problem when I am late in my critics, it is that the others have already written of what I think, Callie.
And what could I write after the "quintessentionnelle" Gerhard's critic?
A magnificent post: picture and note.
Thanks.

Hello Callie

This is a great image with good sharpness in the motion. Even if the photo wasn't taken at optimum light conditions the light is still good.

what an action! great job!! I like the green tones in this picture :) nicely done
and nice frame too :)

Hi Callie,
Very Very Wonderful photo !!
I really like it. I miss it when you have posted it.
Very good work, it's not easy to shot this kind of picture in full action.
Nico.

A marvelous photo of this wonderful prancing wildebeest! Just a great shot, with a wonderful composition with the tree in the background framing the wildebeest perfectly. Great colors, too! Very nicely done. Love the way the horns are highlighted and the tail is flicking up in a classic position.
